Jersey College For Girls - Planning and Development
The Jersey Development Company is pleased to announce that the Minister for the Environment has approved the detailed planning application for the redevelopment of the former Jersey College for Girls site. Now renamed as 'College Gardens', the development includes the creation of 80 affordable homes out of the 187 homes being developed.
The listed building has been unoccupied for more than a decade and is in a poor state of repair. The development will refurbish the main College building together with the east and west wings of the listed building thereby safeguarding its future.
The front lawned areas will be restored and retained as open space that preserves the important setting of the majestic façade. These gardens will provide fantastic amenity space for the residents.
There are 21 listed trees on the site that greatly add to the setting. All except two of these trees will be carefully preserved.
This project will provide a significant stimulus to the local construction industry.
Construction is due to commence by the end of 2015
