Run from Home Marathon Mile

We are thrilled to continue our partnership with the Standard Chartered Jersey Marathon with the launch of the 'Run from Home' challenge that will provide runners an opportunity to participate safely in a Jersey community event.

The Run from Home challenge will take place over a two-week period, commencing on 1 October and concluding on the 16 October 2020.  Runners can choose from four distances to complete:

The Marathon distance (26.2 miles) completed as one consecutive run in one day, or for those who wish to spread the miles, covered over two or three consecutive days.

The NEW Half Marathon finished as one consecutive run in one day.

The Ravenscroft Relay Race. Teamwork is central as teams need to assemble five runners to take on the marathon distance, which is split over five varying race distances.  There is a live ‘grand finale’ race on Wednesday 14 October on Jersey's waterfront, which will see the fastest thirty Jersey based teams qualify for the ‘Ravenscroft Jersey Cup’.

The Marathon Mile, which is sponsored by Jersey Development Company, is welcome to all ages (6yrs +) and abilities.  Runners can take part with friends and family, and even in fancy dress!

Fundraising is key to the Run from Home challenge and all participants are invited to support the event’s two official 2020 charities; Futuremakers and St John Ambulance Jersey.

St John Ambulance Jersey has been chosen as Standard Chartered Bank’s local charity this year.  During the coronavirus pandemic, many public events have been cancelled, including St John Ambulance’s own training sessions, resulting in a loss of income for the local charity. Funds raised through the Jersey Marathon Run from Home event will help the volunteer-led organisation, which is dedicated to the teaching and practice of first aid in Jersey, to continue offering medical support on-Island.

The Marathon Mile – Run from Home challenge is a virtually managed event that allows runners of all abilities to participate in a running event from their home. Runners can select their own course and complete their challenge distance at their own pace, as long as they complete the distance within the defined timeframe.

On completion, runners will submit proof of their challenge time and distance, in return all finishers will receive a finisher medal and t-shirt as well as other additional goodies. All finishers times will be displayed on the event website.

Marathon Mile winners who wish to qualify for the Waterfront live racing must submit their time before 9am on Monday 12 October.

The top fastest male and female times that are submitted for each age category will be invited to attend a showcase Marathon Mile race at the St Helier Waterfront on Wednesday 14 October between 3.30pm – 6pm
