Topping Out Ceremony of Horizon

The traditional Topping Out Ceremony of the Horizon residential development took place on Tuesday 7 December at the St Helier Waterfront. Due to weather conditions, the pouring of concrete on the last roof upstand was not possible, however a contingency plan of a short presentation took place on one of the lower levels.

Jersey Development Company formed a project partnership with French contractor Groupe Legendre. Horizon will deliver 280 apartments along with 12 commercial units on the ground floor. 276 residential units have been pre-sold to date of which 87 units have been purchased by first time buyers.

Two additional pedestrian streets are being created as part of the development to further enhance permeability and connectivity to Elizabeth Marina.

The customary tradition of the Topping Out Ceremony marks an important milestone in the construction of a building, reaching the tallest part of the structure, bringing together all parties involved. The ceremony is traditionally believed to bring good luck to the building.

Following the completion of the structure of the first building, one of the three tower cranes will be dismantled before the end of the year.
