Winter Season Ice Rink Returns to the Weighbridge
Jersey Development Company’s popular Jersey on Ice rink will return to the Weighbridge for its fourth consecutive year this winter, continuing JDC’s investment in community events and placemaking at the Waterfront.
The ice rink will open at the start of the October half-term on Saturday 24 October and run throughout the festive season, closing on Sunday, 10 January 2027.
Jersey on Ice has become one of the Island's favourite winter attractions, drawing more than 22,000 visitors last season alone and underlining its popularity with Islanders and visitors. As part of JDC’s ongoing commitment to the community, 1,238 primary school children enjoyed skating at the rink in 2025 through the free school visits programme, while 61 care home residents experienced the ice from their wheelchairs, giving them the opportunity to take part in a memorable winter experience.
The 30m x 30m ice rink will be open daily during school holidays, from Saturday, 24 October to Sunday, 1 November, and again from Saturday, 19 December to Sunday, 3 January. During school term time, the rink will operate from Wednesday to Sunday, including the final week before it closes on 10 January. The rink will close on Christmas Day but will be open for a limited period on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
JDC is delighted to continue supporting the Jersey Stingrays Ice Hockey team and the development of the Junior Stingrays programme, helping to grow the sport in Jersey and giving children aged 5 to 15 the opportunity to learn and take part. The Junior programme has grown considerably, reaching full capacity last year, and JDC is keen to build on the momentum by supporting more young people to experience and enjoy ice hockey.
Lee Henry, CEO of JDC, said: “The Ice Rink remains a valued community attraction during the festive season. Once again, we'll be inviting primary schools to bring their pupils to enjoy free skating sessions during term time, giving even more children the chance to experience the joy of ice skating.
“This year, the rink will feel larger, as we've removed the curling facility to create additional space for recreational skating. To further enhance the visitor experience, there will also be a dedicated children’s party zone.”
Michelle Le Blond, Branch Manager at Butterfield Bank Jersey, added: We’re delighted to be supporting Jersey on Ice once again this year. It’s a fantastic seasonal attraction that brings people together and provides a fun, inclusive and memorable experience for the whole community. We’re proud to continue our partnership with JDC and to support initiatives that contribute to island life and create opportunities for everyone to enjoy.”
JDC is organising and funding the ice rink event entirely as part of its placemaking strategy and community investment. Seymour Hotels will once again manage the day-to-day operation of the rink, bringing its proven track record in managing the attraction and delivering a memorable visitor experience.
