Free summer events return to St Helier Waterfront

With Islanders increasingly looking for affordable ways to socialise, stay active and enjoy the outdoors, Jersey Development Company (JDC) is bringing back its popular programme of free Waterfront events for a third summer.

Wellness returns to Marina Gardens

This year sees the introduction of Pilates for the first time, taking place every Tuesday from 12.15pm to 1pm, alongside Yoga every Thursday from 1pm to 1.45pm at Marina Gardens (above the Waterfront Car Park), running from 2 June until 24 September.

In addition, JDC is delighted to support the ‘Every Child Our Future’ charity through the ‘Big Jersey Read at the Waterfront’ initiative. Taking place on the lawn at Marina Gardens from 1 July to 12 August, the relaxed lunchtime reading sessions will run every Wednesday from 12pm to 2pm.

Visitors are encouraged to bring a book, get comfortable, and enjoy a laid-back lunchtime read. A selection of free books will also be available to take away or swap. Families are welcome to attend with their children to relax, read together, and choose books to take home.

Hola Friday! Returns to the IFC

Last year’s Hola Friday! events at the IFC’s Trenton Square drew enthusiastic crowds looking to unwind and kick-start their weekends with chilled-out DJ sets and a vibrant summer atmosphere.

This year, the series returns for eight weeks, running every Friday from 3 July to 21 August (subject to the Bailiff’s permission). Each Friday will see a line-up of local DJs provide the perfect soundtrack for after-work summer evenings at the IFC 2 site adjacent to Trenton Square on the Waterfront between 5pm to 7pm.

Guests will also be able to enjoy light bites and refreshments from Cooper & Co and The Loft at Big Maggy’s supporting local food & beverage businesses at the IFC.

A special extended Hola Friday! session will take place on Friday 31 July from 5pm to 8.30pm, featuring the return of Ibiza’s favourite DJ Doctor Feelgood (Café Mambo Ibiza / The House of Feelgood).

A community-focused initiative

The continued success of these events reflects JDC’s placemaking strategy – actively programming and animating public spaces to create inclusive, engaging experiences for the community.

JDC CEO Lee Henry said:

“We are delighted to bring these events back for a third year and to continue building on the fantastic community response we’ve seen since launching the programme. The outdoor areas of the Waterfront are becoming a real destination for Islanders and visitors during the summer months, whether people are looking to relax, enjoy wellness activities, meet friends after work, or simply spend time enjoying the outdoors.

“This year’s expanded programme, including the addition of Pilates and our support for the Big Jersey Read initiative, reflects our ongoing commitment to creating vibrant public spaces that contribute positively to island life and wellbeing.”

No bookings are required for any of the events. Islanders can simply turn up and enjoy the Waterfront’s open spaces, which were developed and are maintained by JDC to support Jersey’s infrastructure and enhance community wellbeing.

Please follow JDC’s social media channels for updates and announcements.
